Correct Answer - Option 3 : D

Given:

Marks of students A, B, C, D and E in 1st semester = 74 + 55 + 40 + 59 + 66 = 294

Formula used:

Average marks of 5 students = Sum of the marks/5

Calculation:

Average marks of A, B, C, D and E in 1st semester = 294/5 = 58.8

∴ Average marks of all the students is 58.8 that is nearest to the marks of student D (59).
