  • Homeopathy, the longest established alternative medicine to come out of Europe, was created in 1796 by Samuel Hahnemann.
  • Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann was born on 10 April 1755 in Meissen, Saxony, and died on 2 July 1843.
  • He was a German physician. He studied medicine and graduated MD at the University of Erlangen on 10 August 1779.
  • Samuel Hahnemann contributed to reforming the medical practices of the 18th century by attributing the cause of disease to the internal environment of the host and thus originated the basic tenet that every individual reacts differently in health and disease.

FG Hopkins

Sir Frederick Gowland Hopkins was an English biochemist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1929, with Christiaan Eijkman, for the discovery of vitamins, even though Casimir Funk, a Polish biochemist, is widely credited with discovering vitamins.

He also discovered the amino acid tryptophan, in 1901.

Selman Waksman

Selman Abraham Waksman was a Russian Empire-born Jewish-American inventor, biochemist, and microbiologist.

Waksman's greatest honor came when he won the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine in 1952 “for his discovery of streptomycin, the first antibiotic effective against tuberculosis.” This distinction earned him the title of “Father of Antibiotics”.

Robert Koch

German physician Robert Koch was one of the founders of bacteriology.

He discovered the anthrax disease cycle and the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis and cholera. and his methods enabled others to identify many more important pathogens.
