Given:

I. x² + 2x – 63 = 0

II. y² - 12y + 35 = 0

Calculation:

I. x² + 2x – 63 = 0

⇒ x² + 9x – 7x – 63 = 0

⇒ x(x + 9) – 7(x + 9) = 0

⇒ (x + 9)(x - 7) = 0

⇒ x = (-9), 7

II. y² - 12y + 35 = 0

⇒ y² - 7y - 5y + 35 = 0

⇒ y(y - 7) – 5(y - 7) = 0

⇒ (y - 5)(y - 7) = 0

⇒ y = 5, 7

-9	5	x < y

When we compared the values of X and Y in the table above, we found three relation i.e x < y, x = y, x > y between X and Y .
