Correct Answer - Option 2 : 10000

Given:

9% of the voters did not vote.

Winner candidate votes = 46%

Concept used:

Total valid votes = 100% - Voters who did not vote or Invalid votes

(All terms in percentage only)

Calculation:

Let the votes be 100%.

Total valid votes = 100% - 9% = 91%

Winner candidate got the votes = 46%

Looser candidate got the votes = 91% - 46% = 45%

Difference of percentage between the Winner and the Looser = 46% - 45% = 1%

The value of 1% = 100 votes

Total votes in an election = 100%

⇒ 100 × 100 = 10000

The total votes in the election is 10000.
