Correct Answer - Option 3 : 500

Given:

A student has to obtain 33% of the total marks to pass. He got 125 marks and failed by 40 marks.

Calculation:

Let maximum mark be X

According to the question,

⇒ 33% of X = 125 + 40

⇒ 33X = 165 × 100

⇒ X = 16500/33

⇒ x = 500

∴ The maximum mark is 500.
