Given:

Ratio of age of Saurabh and his father = 5 : 9

Sourabh's mother is 3 years younger than his father

Ratio of Saurabh's age 5 years ago and his mother's age 3 years ago = 1 : 2

Calculation:

Let the age of Saurabh and his father be 5x and 9x respectively

Age of her mother = 9x – 3

Now, Saurabh's age 5 years ago = (5x – 5) years

Age of his mother 3 years ago = (9x – 3) – 3 years

⇒ 9x – 6 years

(5x – 5)/(9x – 6) = 1/2

⇒ 10x – 10 = 9x – 6

⇒ x = 4

Present age of father = (9 × 4) years

⇒ 36

∴ Present age of father is 36 years
