Correct Answer - Option 3 : 1 : 4

Given :

A, B and C have 20, 30 and 45 chocolates respectively.

A, B and C are futher given x, y and 30 more chocolates

Final Ratio of chocolates is 1 : 2 : 3

Calculations :

Total number of chocolates of A = 20 + x

Total number of chocolates of B = 30 + y

Total number of chocolates of C = 45 + 30 = 75

According to the question

(20 + x) : (30 + y) : 75 = 1 : 2 : 3

For value of y

(30 + y) : 75 = 2 : 3

⇒ (30 + y)/75 = 2/3

⇒ y = 20

For value of x

(20 + x) : 75 =n 1 : 3

⇒ (20 + x)/75 = 1/3

⇒ x = 5

Now Ratio of x to y = x : y

⇒ 5 : 20

⇒ 1 : 4

∴ The ratio of x to y is 1 : 4
