Correct Answer - Option 3 : Statement I is correct but Statement II is incorrect

Reliability in research:

  • The consistency of a research instrument or the process of measurement
  • Reliability is a necessary but insufficient condition for the validity aspect of a research tool
  • Stability, equivalence, and consistency are three basic principles of reliability
  • It can be classified into two
    • Internal consistency: establishing causal relationships as distinguished from the spurious relationship
    • External consistency: establish the domain to which findings can be generalized

The validity of research:

  • It refers to the accuracy of an instrument or the process of measuring
  • A test has construct validity if it accurately measures a theoretical, non-observable construct or trait. The construct validity of a test is worked out over a period of time on the basis of an accumulation of evidence. There are a number of ways to establish construct validity.
  • Thus Validity is not threatened when a test measures only the construct it is designed to measure in a research

Therefore, Statement I is correct but Statement II is incorrect
