Correct Answer - Option 1 : Both Statement I and Statement II are correct

Population

sample

  • In research terminology, the Population can be explained as a comprehensive group of individuals, institutions, objects, and so forth with have common characteristics that are the interest of a researcher.
  • sample can be defined as the small portion of a population selected for a particular study. The sample should clearly represent the characteristics of the intended group.
  • The entire aggregation of items from which sample can be drawn is known as population
  • According to Young “A statistical sample is a miniature picture of a cross selection of the entire group or aggregate from which the sample is taken”.

Conclusion: From the above discussion, we can conclude that the population in research is a comprehensive group and the sample is a small representation of the population. Hence, both statements are true. So, option (1) is correct.
