⇒ x² – 4x + x – 4 = 0

⇒ x(x – 4) + 1(x – 4) = 0

⇒ (x – 4) (x + 1) = 0

ll. y² – 5y – 6 = 0

⇒ y² – 6y + y – 6 = 0

⇒ y(y – 6) + 1(y – 6) = 0

⇒ (y + 1) (y – 6) = 0

⇒ y = 6, -1.
