Directions: Each of the questions given below consists of a question and 2 statements numbered I and II. You have to decide whether the data is sufficient to answer the question. Read both Statements carefully and then answer the questions.

In a triangle XYZ, which of the sides among XY, YZ, and ZX is the longest side?

Statement I. The ratio of the angle X to angle Y is 3 : 2 that is the same as the ratio of angle Y and angle Z.

Statement II. The perimeter of the triangle is 169 cm.
1. The data in statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
2. The data in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
3. The data in statement I alone or in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.
4. The data in both statements I and II are not sufficient to answer the question.
5. The data in both statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.

Correct Answer - Option 1 : The data in statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

Given:

Triangle XYZ

Calculation:

From statement I:

We can conclude that the ratio of the angles x : y : z = 9 : 6 : 4

We know that in a triangle the side opposite to the bigger angle is the longest.

As angle X is the biggest then side YZ is the longest side.

Statement I alone is sufficient.

From Statement II:

Only the perimeter is given. Which doesn’t help in the calculation.

∴ Statement II alone is not sufficient.
