Given, volume of the cube V = a3 = 216 cm3
∴ a3 = 6 × 6 × 6 = 63
Hence a = 6 cm

When two cubes are added, the length of cuboid = 2a = 2 × 6 = 12 cm,
breadth = a = 6 cm,
height = a = 6 cm is formed.
∴ T.S.A. of the cuboid
= 2(lb + bh +lh)
= 2(12×6 + 6×6 + 12×6)
= 2(72 + 36 + 72)
= 2 × 180 = 360 cm2
∴ The surface area of resulting cuboid is 360 cm2.
