बिन्दु (2,3,4) से रेखा \(\frac{4-x}{2}=\frac{y}{6}=\frac{1-z}{3}\) पर डाले गये लम्ब का पाद ज्ञात कीजिए। साथ ही दिए गए बिन्दु से रेखा की लम्बवत् दूरी भी ज्ञात कीजिए।

दी गई रेखा का समीकरण

\(\frac{4-x}{2}=\frac{y}{6}=\frac{1-z}{3}\)

\(\frac{x-4}{-2}=\frac{y-0}{6}=\frac{z-1}{-3}\) = 1 ........(1)

MN पर किसी बिंदु Q के निर्देशांक

Q(-2λ + 4, 6λ + 0, – 3λ + 1)

लम्ब PQ के दिक् अनुपात

a1, b1, c1 = x2 – x1, y2 – y1, z2 – z1

= – 2λ + 4 – 2, 6λ + 0 – 3, – 3λ + 1 – 4

= – 2λ + 2, 6λ – 3, – 3λ – 3

रेखा MN के दिक् अनुपात

a2, b2, c2 = -2, 6, -3

रेखा (1) व PQ लम्ववत् है।

इसलिए a1a2 + b1b2 + c1c2 = 0

(-2λ + 2)(-2) + (6λ – 3)(6) + (-3λ – 3)(-3) = 0

4λ – 4 + 36λ – 18 + 9λ + 9 = 0

49λ = 13

λ = \(\frac{13}{49}\)

λ का मान Q में रखने पर पाद के निर्देशांक
