(i) Adult Education

Education is the basic need of every human being. Education for all is the need of the hour. In India the percentage of literacy is still very low More than half of its population is still illiterate. The Government of India has launched the programme of adult education all over the country. Attempts have been made to teach the young and the old who cannot attend schools in day time. Centres have been set up in remote villages to teach these illiterate people. Many states have achieved hundred percent literacy. But some are still lagging behind. We expect that within a few years the target of hundred percent literacy will be achieved. Illiteracy is a blot on our society. Therefore, it must be removed at any cost. Therefore adult education has become very useful in these days.

(ii) Dowry System

Dowry system is a great evil in our society. There was a time when it was not in practice in India. The parents were at liberty to give some presents to their daughters as they liked. So, it was at their sweet will. Now things have changed. Bridegrooms are sold like any saleable commodity. As a matter of fact the boy is auctioned to the highest bidder in the marriage market. It has vitiated the whole atmosphere of our society. Parents having daughters are completely ruined. For a poor man it has become difficult to marry his daughter. If he cannot afford so much money or things to be given in dowry, his daughter is mercilessly tortured or killed. The poor brides either commit suicide or are murdered brutally. The dowry deaths are symptoms of a very deeprooted social disease. It cannot be removed by legislation only. This evil will die a natural death once women become economically independent. It must be eradicated at any cost.

(iii) Walking

Walking is a good exercise and everyone can practise it without any trouble. It improves our health and refreshes our mind. It suits both the old and the young. But it is quite necessary for the weak and old persons. It is equally suitable for the people engaged in brain work. Walking is entertaining only when we walk in company of friends. Walking with friends has its own pleasure which can only be felt, not described. Some people like to walk alone. It is the only form of exercise that is good for children, women and the old. One who misses it, perhaps misses a lot of good things.

(iv) An Earthquake

An earthquake is always followed by destruction and devastation. During an earthquake, which is caused due to volcanic erruptions in the earth, cemented brick buildings can be seen falling like plastic models. Trees and street lamps are uprooted. Sky-scrappers fall like tumbling blocks. Much damage is caused to life and property alike. Many people are rendered homeless many get serious injuries and some many even lose their lives. Hence, an earthquake means such damage to life and property which is not easily recoverable.

(v) Politeness

Politeness is the core of all good manners. We can win friends and reconcile with our enemies by our politeness, Politeness costs nothing and buys every things for us. Everyone is ready to help a polite person out of his difficulties and misfortunes. Politeness makes the journey of life easy and smooth. Much is forgiven to a person with charming manners. He is also a source of leasure to his friends. He sweetens social intercourse, and is always lively and courteous in his talks and behaviour. Politeness is a virtue that springs directly form the heart and is an intrinsic part of human nature.
