लाग्रांज का माध्य मान प्रमेय की सत्यता जाँचें जबकि फलन

\(f(x) = x(x-1) (x-2)\) अंतराल में \(\left[0, \frac {1}{2}\right]\)

यहाँ \(f(x)=x(x-1)(x-2)\)

\(=\left(x^{2}-x\right)(x-2)\)

\(=x^{3}-2 x^{2}-x^{2}+2 x\)

\(=x^{3}-3 x^{2}+2 x\)

\(\therefore \mathrm{F}^{\prime}(x)=3 x^{2}-6 x+2\)

स्पष्ट है कि \(\mathrm{F}(x)\) बहुपद है अतः संतत होगा तथा अवकलित भी है। इसलिए लाग्रांज का माध्य प्रमेय \(\left(0, \frac{1}{2}\right)\) में लगाया जा सकता है।

साथ ही \(F^{\prime}(c)=\frac{F(b)-F(a)}{b-a} \)

\(=\frac{\left(\frac{1}{2}\right)^{3}-3\left(\frac{1}{2}\right)^{2}+2 \times \frac{1}{2}-\left\{(0)^{3} \cdot 3(0)^{2}+2 \times 0\right\}}{\frac{1}{2}-0}\)

\(=\frac{\frac{1}{8}-\frac{3}{4}+1}{\frac{1}{2}}\)

\(=\frac{\frac{1-6+8}{8}}{2}\)

\(=\frac{3}{\frac{8}{2}}\)

\(=\frac{3}{8} \times \frac{1}{2}\)

\(=\frac{3}{16}\)

अतः लाग्रांज का माध्य प्रमेय सत्य है।
