Millions of people work in design and related fields and it has become crucial to the economy. Design graduates can find employment in various sectors and have access to several work prospects. Some unconventional careers in design are:

Multi-media Industry: The art of combining several media as text, graphics, audio and video to connect with an audience is known as multimedia design. In addition to being employed in various areas besides graphics and website design, this approach has a specific market. Animators, 3D animators, motion designers, motion graphics designers, level designers are some career options available in this industry.

Education: As the design industry grows, the need for experts to lead the newer generation grows too. In different fields of design, different jobs for teachers arise which sometimes pay better than that of a designer. And now in the post-covid world, the demand for online teachers has cultivated impact fully.

Engineering Industry: If you have a bachelor’s degree in product design or design engineering, you will have enough knowledge about machines, CAD software which will give you an opening in the engineering field. Careers like mechanical engineering might also accept a designer for design and making of state-of-the-art motors, vehicles, etc.

Freelancing: If a nine-to-five job is not your cup of tea then working as a freelance designer might be your way out. Freelancing enables you to work for yourself and expand your earning potential. A freelance designer might make more money than a one with a job. Salary of a freelance designer ranges from INR 1 Lakh to INR 6 Lakhs with an average salary of INR 3 Lakhs.

Government Sector: If the comfort and ease of a government is what you want from life but have a designing degree, worry not. There are numerous job opportunities for designers in government sector too. Be it graphic, web or architecture designing, you can work with the government as an employee as well as an independent contractor.

Self Employment: As a designer, you will always have the option of doing something of your own. You can make your own brand and start your business or you can start working as a full time business consultant. From a social media influencer to a leading business, designing will provide you with a great many opportunities to employ yourself.
