From given triangle, points D and E are on the sides AB and AC respectively such that DE || BC.

AD/AB = 8/15 or AD = 8 cm, AB = 15 cm, and EC = 3.5 cm

By Thale’s Theorem:

AD/AB = AE/AC

8/15 = AE/(AE+EC) = AE/(AE+3.5)

8(AE + 3.5) = 15AE

7 AE = 28

or AE = 4 cm
