If log (a- b) = log a – log b, then what will be value of a in terms of b?

log (a – b) = log a – log b

⇒ log (a – b) = log(a/b)

Comparing on both sides,

⇒ a – b = a/b

⇒ b(a -b) = a

⇒ ab – b2 = a

⇒ ab – a = b2

⇒ a(b – 1) = b2

⇒ a = b2/b – 1

Hence, value of a in terms of b is b2/b – 1.
