1. van’t Hoff factor is defined as the ratio ofthe actual molar mass to the abnormal (calculated) molar mass of the solute.

van’t Hoff factor (1) for acetic acid = \(\frac{60}{120}\) = 0.5

3. van’t Hoff factor (2) for NaCl = \(\frac{117}{58.5}\) = 2
