Electronic configuration of Sc = 1s22s22p63s23p63d14s2

Electronic configuration of Sc+2 = 1s22s22p63s23p63d1

\(\therefore\) Magnetic moment = \(\sqrt{n(n+2)}\) B.M.

Where,

n = Number of unpaired elecrons.

\(\therefore\) Magnetic momental Sc+2 = \(\sqrt{1(1+2)}\) B. M.

= √3 B.M.

= 1.732 B.M.
