Correct Answer - Option 2 : 6460

Given:

Ram and Ravana stood in an election.

If the number of votes of Ram got gets reduced by 50%, Ravana would have won the election by 610 votes.

If the number of votes of Ravana is tripled, Ravana would have won the election by 5060 votes.

Formula:

Percentage increase/ decrease = [(new - actual)/actual] × 100%

Calculation: Let the votes Ram and Ravana got be x and y respectively.

According to question

y - x/2 = 610

⇒ 2y – x = 1220     ----(1)

And

3y – x = 5060      ----(2)

Subtract equation (1) from (2)

y = 5060 – 1220 = 3840

and on solving x = 6460

Hence, Ram got 6460 votes.
