Correct Answer - Option 3 : 5600

Given:

In an election between two candidates, the winning candidate has got 80% of the votes polled and has won by 16800 votes

Calculation

Let the total vote = x

Total vote winning cadidate = 80x/100= 8x/10

Total vote losing candidate = 20x/100 = x/5

Now, 8x/10 – x/5 = 16800

6x/10 = 16800

6X = 168000

X = 28000

Total vote losing candidate = x/5 = 28000/5 = 5600

∴ losing candidate got 5600 votes
