The poem ‘Risks’ excels in opposite images. They are used to convey two opposite ends, meanings and symbols of human life. The use of opposite images only heightens the poetic effect. ‘Love’ is contrasted with not being loved in return ‘To live’ is to risk ‘dying’. Similarly, to hope’ is to risk despair’. To try’ is to risk failure. Similarly all other images are created to produce an effective contrast. These opposite images in the poem present the dialectics of human life.
दो विपरीत बिम्बों के संयोजन में यह कविता उत्कृष्ट है। इनका प्रयोग दो विपरीत ध्रुवों के संप्रेषण के लिए किया गया है। विपरीत बिम्बों का प्रयोग केवल कविता के प्रभाव को बढ़ाता है। प्यार की जोखिम असफल प्यार को बताया गया है। इसी प्रकार से जीवन की जोखिम मौत, आशा की जोखिम निराशा तथा कोशिश की जोखिम असफलता को वर्णित किया गया है। इसी प्रकार से एक दूसरे विपरीत बिम्बों का प्रयोग प्रभावकारी तुलना को प्रस्तुत करने के लिए किया गया है। कविता में इस प्रकार के विपरीत बिम्ब जीवन के द्वंद्व को प्रकट करते हैं।
